Fri., Jan. 18 - Mon., Jan. 21     Palmquist’s The Farm, Brantwood, WI

An annual NNSC tradition; lodging in beautiful log inns; home-cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner included; over 20 km of trails on site or travel to other nearby ski areas; approximate cost $350; deposit of $200 (check payable to Palmquist Farm) required (to trip leader) by Dec. 15.  Contact Sue Allman,, or Meg Ewen,  (beginner to advanced x-c; snowshoeing)

Fri., Jan. 25 - Sun., Jan. 27     Minocqua, WI

Plenty of great ski trails in the area, including state-of-the-art Minocqua Winter Park (75 km of groomed trails.)  Take a skate ski or classical striding lesson at MWP. Sun., Jan. 27 - Fri., Feb. 1     Ironwood, Upper Peninsula, MI

The most reasonably-priced trip of the year!  5 nights’ lodging in a 4-bedroom house owned by Indianhead Motel (or choose to stay in a traditional motel room.)

Sat., Feb. 9 - Sun., Feb. 10     Lapham Peak, Delafield, WI

This trip can be done as a Saturday day trip, but why not stay overnight Saturday, enjoy dinner and motel lodging, and ski somewhere else in the area before returning home on Sunday?  Lodging at Americinn Delafield; pool, free breakfast.  Call 262-646-3300 to reserve.  Cost $85 plus tax per room.  AAA and AARP discounts available. Sat., Feb. 16 - Thurs., Feb. 21   Stokely Creek Lodge, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Depart Chicago by carpool on Saturday.  Stay at a motel en route Saturday night.  Arrive at Stokely Creek on Sunday for a 4-night stay.  Depart for home on Feb. 21 (or drive 3 hours to do the Marquette/Munising weekend trip.)  Rooms 15 and 16 are reserved.  Rooms accommodate 5 persons each; one room will be male and one will be female. Average daily cost approximately $150 - $170  per person per day (subject to conversion rates at the time) and includes ski and snowshoe trail fees, three gourmet meals, a wine and cheese social, and use of the Lodge facilities (ping pong, sauna, ski waxing room, and fireplace and lounge area.  Participation limited to the first 5 men and 5 women who send a $100 deposit (made payable to NNSC) to Scott. Thurs., Feb. 21- Sun., Feb. 24      Marquette/Munising, Upper Peninsula, MI

Ski options in the area include the Noquemanon ski trails, nearby Blueberry Ridge, and Valley Spur.  All have warming shelters and at least 12 miles of beautiful forested trails.  Valley Spur, in the Hiawatha National Forest near Munising, Michigan, offers 38 miles of ski and snowshoe trails.  Trip participants may drive up from the Chicago area on Wednesday the 20 th or Thursday the 21 st.   Stokely Creek trip participants (above) may drive directly to Marquette from Stokely Creek (about a 3-hour drive) on the 21st.  Ski through Saturday in the Marquette area and return home on Sunday.  Lodging at a hotel in Marquette with a pool and continental breakfast.  Lodging costs will be less than $96 (including tax) per night per room for a room with 2 double beds.  Contact Debbie Hoegemeyer ( or 773-271-2505).  Hotel reservations must be confirmed by January 31.  (beginner to advanced x-c; snowshoeing)
