Fri., Jan. 12 - Mon., Jan. 15     Palmquist’s The Farm, Brantwood, WI

An annual NNSC tradition; lodging in beautiful log inns; home-cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner included; over 20 km of trails on site or travel to other nearby ski areas; approximate cost $350; deposit of $200 (check payable to Palmquist Farm) required (to trip leader) by Dec. 12.  Contact Sue Allman, susan.allman@sbcglobal.net, or Meg Ewen, ibagoalie@comcast.net.

Fri., Jan. 26- Mon., Jan. 29   Marquette/Munising, Upper Peninsula, MI

Valley Spur in the Hiawatha National Forest near Munising offers 38 miles of ski and snowshoe trails ranging from beginner to difficult.  Skiers wishing to test their skills may enter the Noque ski races (various distances) in the town of Marquette.  The Noque ski trail is described as beautiful, rugged, and mainly downhill! Lodging at a local hotel with a pool and continental breakfast; cost including taxes approximately $100 per night per room (2 double beds and a refrigerator.)  Contact Debbie Hoegemeyer, debbieh33356@yahoo.com.  Can be combined with Ironwood trip below.

Sun., Jan. 28 - Fri., Feb. 2  Ironwood, Upper Peninsula, MI

The most reasonably-priced trip of the year!   5 nights’ lodging in a 4-bedroom house owned by Indianhead Motel (or choose to stay in a traditional motel room.)

Several excellent ski areas nearby.  Lessons available at ABR. Fri., Feb. 2 - Sun., Feb. 4      Minocqua, WI

Plenty of great ski trails in the area, including state-of-the-art Minocqua Winter Park (75 km of groomed trails.)  Take a skate ski or classical striding lesson at MWP. Lodging at Americinn; refrigerator and microwave in each room; indoor pool, free breakfast.  Call 715-356-3730 by Jan. 12 and mention group “Northwest Nordic Ski Club” to get the special rate of $98.99 plus tax on a room with two beds; contact Cary Cohen, carycoh@aol.com.  Can be combined with Ironwood trip above.

Plus ski one day at the Iola Winter Sports Club, with 20 km of groomed trails.  The other day could be in the Stevens Point area or North Kettle Moraine, depending on snow conditions at trip time.
